Thank
you for exploring my Web Page. I have been designing Cross Stitch
patterns since May 1995. My first design was 'Oh Canada' ~ the image
of the little beaver popped into my head and refused to budge until
I got him down onto graph paper! Since then there have been many
other 'head popping' episodes, so I now have to focus on carrying
them to completion.
I studied art in College and over the years have tried my hand at
many crafts. Nothing has kindled my heart as Cross Stitch has. I've
been stitching now for about 20 years, but had not thought to design
my own patterns until recently. I was born in Toronto and my family
heritage is Scottish, Australian and British.
We
live in a small rural community about 60 miles northeast of Toronto,
Ontario, Canada. My husband Karl is a big part of the Stitcher's
Habit, doing most of the computer work, and being very supportive
generally. We have a beautiful little girl - our "wish
upon a star"
Maya Katelyn. There are also 2 resident furry people (okay
they're cats ... ) by the names of Winston
and Nala.
I
have many interests including playing piano, music generally, watching
movies and travelling. I am also interested in natural medicine
(in particular Homeopathy) and have recently attained my DiHom as
I work towards becoming a Homeopath.
I
have many things that influence my designs. I have always
loved animals, and the "North". The pine trees,
clear starry nights, still waters and the sad sweet call of the
Loon are a sanctuary for me. I'm very interested in Ethnic textiles
- Turkish Kilims, Central American Molas, medieval embroideries,
etc. I study symbolism (especially Native American) and try
to incorporate this in some of my work.
I
have loved being part of the Needlework Community. It has
been a rich and nourishing experience ! I hope that by sharing
my designs with you that you will enjoy stitching them and that
they might bring a smile to your heart.
Please E-Mail me with
any comments you might like to share with me.
Thank you for coming to visit ~ I'll look forward to your return
